Last July 3rd I purchased a pair of binoculars at opticsplanet.com
I chose this retailer because years ago I (uneventfully) bought another pair there, and the price was average.

One month later, the parcel is lost somewhere "in transit" in the USPS network. No further information about parcel location or estimated date of arrival.
The last "in transit" carrier update was on july 20, and according to Optics Planet policy, I'll have to wait 20 more business days from that july 20, for them to start looking at the issue. That will be around mid august.

Their customer support is good for nothing. Once the parcel is dispatched, contacting them is, besides very difficult, totally useless because they know nothing.

I've found (too late), that there are many people with similar complaints and they are rating this retailer very low.

To summarize:
You buy an item that might or might not arrive after many weeks waiting.
You can't cancel the order and get your money back because it is in transit.
It's not wise to buy again this item elsewhere, because you might end up with two units, if the first one eventually arrives.
They retain your money, waste your time, and if you were planning to use this product, say on a trip, forget about it.

Order something and pay an extra $50 for 1 day shipping yet they can't put it in a box until a week has passed. Break their own company policy by charging you before your order ships and who knows how long until that's back. Stay far far away if you want something in a timely manner.

terrible company

I ordered a small part for a rifle.
Noted as "in stock"
Noted a shipping delay of 2-3 weeks. Not a problem.
We are through the second month and no one has given me any indication as to status. Multiple emails are ignored. Customer service line rings and doesn't get answered.
If anyone on here wants to coordinate an AG complaint against this company, I think it is in line. These people don't care about you and they do not care about running an honest company.
Awful.

certified buyer great product, unbelievable delivery time, free shipping will only buy from optics plantet took less time to receive the scope than if i went to locale gun shop never have anything anyway don't know how this company could not receive anything but high reviews typical of the snow flakes of this country anymore

Items in stock take 8 months to ship

Ordered a product that was shown to be in stock and Checking Availability showed it would ship in 23 - 32 days. Different colors of the same product were all on backorder. A couple of days after the order was placed it changed to 100 plus days. I understand that things happen. I could wait. 45 days later, it shows shipping to be delayed for over 250 days from when it was ordered.

I got on the site and found another configuration that again showed in stock and shipping in 23-32 days. A different color on backorder but not the one being ordered. So I place the order. The next day this new order shows shipping over 200 days as well now.

Well, I go back to the item on the site and it is still showing that it is in stock and shipping in 23-32 days. It is not backordered or nothing stating that shipping will be delayed.

So I reach out to Customer Service. Just wanting to understand what happened. And to let them know that something may be broken. Yes I am frustrated. I explain the situation. The Agents gives me the song and dance that the manufacturer is behind. I explain that my complaint has nothing to do with that. It has to do with the Bait and Switch of telling me and other people right at this very moment that you can ship in 23-32 days when you cannot. AGent did what he was trained to do and towed the company line. Etc...

However, it did not resolve anything. I am sure this Agents leadership at Optics Planet has no interest in knowing that they are either misrepresenting themselves (nice way of saying lying) or a system is broken and not updating correctly (assuming they have integrity).

Due to the Agent not offering to pass on info, or unable to offer any solution as my complaint was the misrepresentation. The culture there is for the Customer Service people to just be a barrier between the customers and leadership. So just shut up and give us your money.

Ripe off company

I wish I had read the reviews before I ordered from this so called company.
Just a bunch of lying thief's.
I have had to contact my credit company to fight to get my money back.
WARNING STAY AWAY!

Just look at all the negative reviews...

Here's the common thread... they advertise something as being in stock, you buy it, they immediately charge your card, and then when it doesn't ship in a reasonable amount of time, you call them and they tell you: "Your order is being processed," or "It's been sent to the shipping department," or "Shipping is slow due to (Biden, Covid, whatever!)," while the truth is it was never in stock and they're lying to you... it's a scam! If/when they receive a new shipment and you haven't given up by then, they'll ship it to you. If you did give up and cancel your order, they'll hang on to your money for as long as they can.

If you read all the reviews, you will understand exactly what they're doing. If you do business with them, you're just asking to get screwed. If you do business with them twice... you're a masochist.

The operating philosophy of OpticsPlanet is "They're born faster than we can piss 'em off!" Caveat emptor!

The QA is lacking

The QA is subpar, but could be the fault of the supplier. However, I can’t eliminate the possibility of the seller being at fault since the packaging isn’t tamper sealed from the supplier. The ammo count was short several rounds, but again, could be the fault of the supplier. Just think how much a sellers profit margin can rise by simply pulling one round from every box sold and selling as separate grouped boxes of rounds, though. Especially when demand is as high as it is at the time. I would only buy ammo from this seller again if they were the last sellers to have ammo.
To top it off, they deleted my review because it didn’t focus on the product. It did. The fact that the product wasn’t whole.

I was warned and I ignored it!

The worst return process!
Their shipping is one of the slowest online retailer. They are the worst when it comes to returning something. Their return process takes at least 45 days or more before you get credit. I even tried "store credit" which Opticsplanet highly recommends and states the fastest way to get credit back on returns. Well... more than 30 days and they still haven't issued a store credit. They received the item in 3 days and acknowledged the return and states they will post credit in my account. I've contacted customer service and they send you an automated response regarding their credit return policy which is FALSE. If you can find you item or product somewhere else do not get it from optics planet.

I've seen the bad reviews but ignored it thinking it wouldn't happen to me. Well, I just made myself a victim when I had all the data telling me not to do business with Opticsplanet.

They might as well state "Free Shipping No Credit on Returns"

Doesn't even work strait out of the box

Bought over priced Chinese junk. Didn't work strait out of the box. You'd think for the price. It would at least kind of work for awhile. Nope.

I wish there was a less than zero…

I wish there was a less than zero option. Avoid unless you want to order and be charged for items that are listed as in stock but don’t ship for many weeks or possibly months. I have ordered from opticsplanet many times over the years. At first the service was decent and the prices were tolerable but the service dropped off the deep end. I recently ordered items that were shown in stock on 21 February, 2021. My credit card was charged on the 22nd. It is now March 18 and my status shows processing as it has since the beginning. I initially received an email saying that they were sorry to the delay and blamed the weather. OK the weather was causing delays across the US but they continued to blame the weather when deliveries were back to normal as I experienced by receiving orders that I ordered at approximately the same time. They sent another email stating to rest assured that If I had a tracking number my products were in route. Well my order only shows processing. Well it’s been over 4 weeks since I was charged for my supposed in stock items and they are still processing my order lol. Truly this company is one to stay away from unless they are the only one left on the planet. Don’t just take my word for it just read the other scathing reviews.

The same experience as everyone else. I ordered a scope on Jan 10, 2021. Their website said “available ships in 1-8 days.” My card was charged immediately. I got an email the next day claiming that due to a delay from the manufacturer my order wouldn’t ship until January 25 and I would be provided with a tracking number then. Jan 25 came and went and nothing. Tried unsuccessfully emailing and calling and finally got a hold of someone on Feb 5. They said it was due to arrive on Feb 6 and I’d have a tracking number by the 8th. Nope again nothing. Tried canceling and their site said shipped so it wouldn’t allow it. I disputed the charges on my card, filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and then they acknowledged my cancellation and credited my card back. I don’t know how they are still in business. Stay far away.

Request to cancel order was ignored 5 times

Ordered several mags that said in stock and after a month or more I tried to cancel bc the order never got processed and I just got them elsewhere. After trying to cancel the order 5 or 6 times they just ignored my request and sent the items anyway. I do not recommend using this company.
